Lori has worked in oncology nursing for more than 35 years. Most recently she was an Associate Professor in the Department of Symptom Research at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for 19 years. She is an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse. She has served on the Board of Directors of both the Oncology Nursing Society and the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation. She is especially interested in the measurement of symptoms to improve patient care, the use of qualitative research methods in the development of patient reported outcome measures, and the dynamics between family caregivers and patients with cancer. She was a family caregiver for her mother during the final stages of breast cancer and recently cared for her husband through treatment for prostate cancer.
